  • MADOR: National Initiatives of the Joint Council of Mechinot

On the Horizon is a community-building project that lies at the heart of the strategic partnership between KKL and the Joint Council. The goal of the project is to advance a long-term process that will inspire mechina alumni to become community leaders in the settlement of the Negev and Galilee.

This mission can be a success only if it emerges from a consistent, formative, and intensive process that begins with familiarization, education, and assimilation of the subject during the mechina year. The process requires guidance and advisement of mechina students and staff to achieve the objective of deploying young people and alumni communities across the country.

The Joint Council and Be’Artzeinu seek to help the mechinot implement a one-year educational program on the subject of intentional community-building that combines study of the history of Zionism and the settlement of Israel with an examination of current issues such as the relationship between the center of the country and its periphery, communities and community, and community-building in our day.
