Beit Midrash for Mechina Heads
- MADOR: National Initiatives of the Joint Council of Mechinot

Beit midrash programming connects mechina heads from opposing ends of Israeli society, bringing them together for joint learning and to foster unity in the mechina world and Israeli society.
The Joint Council operates two projects as beit midrash programming for mechina leaders. Both seek to enrich participants and generate discussion and encounters between them on the basis of the understanding that the unique human diversity of the mechina world can help solve problems and build bridges in Israeli society.
The Siach Shalom Beit Midrash
Participants in the Siach Shalom Beit Midrash come together for six sessions of dialogue, joint learning, and deep discussion of fundamental and controversial issues in Israeli society. The goal of the sessions is to formulate guiding principles for an Israeli constitution. The Siach Shalom Beit Midrash includes mechina heads, branch heads, education directors, and senior Judaic teachers.
The Matanel Seminar Beit Midrash, a collaboration with the Matanel Foundation
The Matanel Seminar Beit Midrash convenes for nine sessions of dialogue and joint learning, as well as a five-day trip abroad, with facilitation by Dr. Yaniv Mezuman and professional support by Dr. Ami Bouganim. Participants engage in deep discussions of core issues and matters of debate in Israeli society, with a focus on learning under the banner of “democracy, society, law, and constitution in Israel.”
In 2023–2024, the beit midrash has 22 participants and has a target population of mechina heads, branch heads, education directors, senior Judaic teachers, and senior mechina staff members. The program extends over two academic years. The 2023–2024 program was designed to include the 12 participants who started in the 2022–2023 year and 10 new participants.
