Rakia was founded by a group of pilots in the Israeli Air Force (IAF) who have come together to build a leadership academy powered by the IAF heritage, values and proven practices.
As a Mechina, our vision is to build a better future for Israel through leadership, excellence and diversity.
Our gap year is not meant for creating IAF pilots. We use our values and culture to try and foster a young group of leaders charged with responsibility for the future of the state of Israel. We focus on understanding the complex Israeli society, meeting and exploring its issues first hand, and giving back to the community through volunteer-work and different community projects.
Our studies include a wide range of subjects such as leadership, modern Zionism, social entrepreneurship, political philosophy, economics and many more.
Mechinat "Rakia" is open to all the different Jewish denominations, creating a uniquely diverse group.
What makes our program special?
Roots and DNA
This is the first time that Israeli pilots joined together to build a unique program.
50% of our curriculum is led and taught by IAF pilots. Our courses include topics such as: Debriefing and self-improvement, coping with failure, decision-making, leadership skills and more.
We believe in diversity as a value. Our students include young men and women, religious and non-religious, from different backgrounds, joined only by their unimaginable potential.
Along studying the challenges, we believe in providing tools for taking action. Our students undertake a 3 month social-entrepreneurship course led by IDC College lecturer and entrepreneur Marcio Lampart.
Throughout the course our students will be divided into entrepreneurship teams. Each team will choose and plan different social ventures guided by leading entrepreneurs as mentors.
