Last night, a historic event took place at Mechinat Tzahali: the launch of the first ever halakhic guidebook for religious women in the IDF. The book, Shalom Becheileich, was authored by Rabbi Eli Reiff, who has taught at Tzahali for the past eight years.

The occasion was well attended by guests who listened to fascinating insights from MK Shuli Mualem-Refaeli, Rabbi Yuval Cherlow, Mrs. Michal Nagen, and Rabbi Eli Reiff, with the inspirational facilitation of Mrs. Yafit Kleimer.

The topics of discussion included the place of women in society and the military, the tension between halakha and reality, halakhic writing in our day, and the unique place of Tzahali in all of these areas.

Many thanks to all our donors, all our guests, and Rabbi Eli,

and thanks and best wishes to you, students and alumnae of Tzahali. You’re the reason for the book, and you’re the reason we’re here.
