The journey begins for 1,500 first-year students at 23 mechinot, from Mechinat Keshet Yehuda in the Golan to the Otzem Pre-Military Torah Academy in the Negev.

The first day of Elul has arrived, and the Orthodox mechinot are now in session,

with 1,500 first-year students at 23 mechinot, from Mechinat Keshet Yehuda in the northern Golan to the Otzem Pre-Military Torah Academy in the southern Negev.

As a brutal summer begins to dissipate, the next generation of religious Zionist officers, commanders, and leaders sets out on a challenging path incorporating both Torah study and an ethos of service, of both serving God and serving the people of Israel with leadership in the battlefield.

Concurrently, they set out on the path of partnership. The approximately 2,100 students of the 31 secular, traditional, and mixed mechinot will join them in another few weeks. Together they will overcome their disagreements and differences, and show what great things we can accomplish when we are united.

Have a wonderful, successful year!
