Joint Council Alumni Prize presented to ten inspirational awardees

Ten outstanding young men and women were recognized this Thursday at Hanna Szenes House in Sdot Yam with the Alumni Prize. We recall the words of David Ben-Gurion: “The youth of our time will mold the human character of Israel by leading lives of distinction.”

This Thursday, after several postponements due to COVID and limits on gatherings, the Joint Council Alumni Prize was awarded to ten highly deserving recipients:

Adir Leiba (Mechinat Melach HaAretz) and Reut Yehezkeli (Mechinat Hanegev) won in the the category of Education; Shai Ben-Shoshan (Mechinat Keshet Yehuda) and Shachar Katzir (Mechinat Arava) won in the category of Social Entrepreneurship; Ayelet Oren (Mechinat Beit Yisrael) won in the category of Community-Building and Development of the Periphery; Noam Fixler (Mechinat Ami Chai) won in the Security Forces category; Ori Mazuz (Mechinat Oz Shlomo), Yigal Godo (Mechinat Elisha), and Navot Goldwyn (Mechinat Rabin) won in the Public Sector category; and Tamar Yahel (Mechinat Rabin) won in the Nonprofit Sector category.

The ceremony was held at the close of a seminar for mechina heads hosted with the Ministry of Defense at Hanna Szenes House in Sdot Yam. Also present were Haviva Salomon, head of the Bureau of Nachal, Service Year Programs, and Pre-military Programs of the Ministry of Defense, and Joint Council of Mechinot CEO Dani Zamir. The event was held under the banner of words spoken by Israel’s first prime minister and minister of defense, David Ben-Gurion: “The youth of our time will mold the human character of Israel by leading lives of distinction.”
